Math
- Students use the math resource called Envision. Problem solving, reasoning, communication, connections, and representations are infused throughout all lessons. This series is aligned with the Illinois State Math Standards. Students will also use Math Minutes to improve their knowledge of math facts. Math extended responses are used with the students to help them learn to explain how they achieved an answer in Math through pictures, tables, and written answer.
Grading
- Math grades are given as M, MP, NMP, DNM.
M = Meets
MP = Making Progress
NMP = Not Making Progress
DNM = Does Not Meet
MP = Making Progress
NMP = Not Making Progress
DNM = Does Not Meet
- Student progress will be monitored on a daily basis. At the end of each outcome a paper Outcome Assessment will be given. On the report card there will be a list of outcomes that encompass the skills being learned this year. Students’ progress will be checked in all the components that fit under each outcome. An outcome grade will be given based on performance in each of the components. The Outcome assessments are 70% of the grade. As we progress in the year, be sure to watch components from previous quarters as grades are subject to change as your children improve!
